About Wrigley-Cross Books

History

Paul Wrigley and Debbie Cross opened a bookstore in 1990 after several years of selling books at conventions and mail order. We have always strived to carry a wide varied of quality used books while specializing in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery. After fifteen years and one move, we made the difficult decision, based the on fiscal reality of today’s marketplace, to close our brick and mortar store in 2005.

The Current Story

Today we operate out of our home in Troutdale, OR. We’re located in a scenic area near the beginning of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. We have a showroom which may be visited by appointment. You’ll notice that our mailing address, which is a private P. O. Box, is in Gresham.

We’ve made great strides in improving our website. Today, all of the new books and nearly all of the used books we have available are listed on the website. This is updated daily to keep the inventory current. Our books are also for sale through a variety of services such a Biblio.com and Alibris.com.

In addition to selling books on the website and in our showroom, we frequently issue an actual paper catalog. An advantage for our regular catalog customers is that collectible used books in our specialties may appear in the catalog before they appear on the website. New books always appear on the website as they arrive.

Etc.

Books are our friends. We treat each one with respect. We ship books carefully packed to reach you in the same condition it leaves our showroom. We like to get to know our customers and help them find the books they want or even books they don’t yet know they want. We strive to maintain a good relationship with the small press publishers, ensuring we always have a wide range of hard to find titles.

Our Cats

We were never able to have cats in our store, so we've been pleased to be able to let our home cats keep us company in the book showroom. Unfortunately, we lost our wonderful Clarence to kidney failure and Mr. Darcy to a sudden blood clot or heart attack.  Our remaining cat, Buddy, is now very elderly and suffers from diabetes and arthritis, but still joins us in the evenings to watch television or comes into the office to nap.
